Today into tomorrow is Tisha B’Av, a day of mourning for the Jewish people. Tisha B’av, on the 9th day of the month of Av, has incredible significance in both Hebrew and global history. It is the date that both Temples were destroyed. Many attacks on Israel and the Jews around the world were carried out on that day. The expulsion of the Jews during the Spanish Inquisition, the beginning of World War 1, the first killings of Jews in Treblinka in 1942 and many many more. Even now, Iran is on the cusp of a major attack on Israel as we continue to see the Israeli war unfolding. In this teaching, PJ demonstrates how the Lord has prophesied that He will be the one who brings calamity on them and will scatter them because of their disobedience to Him. But also how He will regather them and bring a remnant of them to Himself who will love Him with their whole hearts.

THE SCATTERING OF ISRAEL

8 “Behold, the eyes of the Lord God are on the sinful kingdom, And I will destroy it from the face of the earth; Nevertheless, I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob,” Declares the Lord. 9 “For behold, I am commanding, And I will shake the house of Israel among all nations As grain is shaken in a sieve, But not a kernel will fall to the ground. 10 “All the sinners of My people will die by the sword,
Those who say, ‘The calamity will not overtake or confront us.’ AMOS 9:8-10

So what the Lord is saying is that He is shaking Israel and scattering them throughout the nations until He has a remnant that will be with Him forever that will love Him with all their heart. But we also need to understand that the Lord is shaking the nations and the church at the same time using His line of demarcation – which is Israel.

THE RESTORATION OF ISRAEL

11 “In that day I will raise up the fallen booth of David, And wall up its breaches; I will also raise up its ruins And rebuild it as in the days of old; 12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom And all the nations who are called by My name,” Declares the Lord who does this.13 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “When the plowman will overtake the reaper And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; When the mountains will drip sweet wine And all the hills will be dissolved.14 “Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, And they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, And make gardens and eat their fruit.15  “I will also plant them on their land, And they will not again be rooted out from their land Which I have given them,” Says the Lord your God. AMOS 9:11-15

The days of restoration have come, they are here and we are seeing major movement. We have crossed the line, the end time scenario is beginning in Jerusalem. The Temple Mount is about to change and we will see a fulfilment of all the verses we so often look to. The result is going to be the Messiah coming!

We see how God scattered Israel among the nations (as He said He would). But He also said He would bring them back and that He would raise up a remnant that would come back to God and that is happening right before our eyes.

Tisha B’Av has been a day of mourning for the Jews throughout history, and has proven to be a day of intense sorrow for them. But the Lord is going to turn it into a day of Joy when He regathers them as His people as is prophesied in Zechariah 8!

18 Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying, 19 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘The fast of the fourth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh and the fast of the tenth months will become joy, gladness, and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah; so love truth and peace.’”. Zechariah 8:18-19
